Wealth Warrior Awakening:

Know vs. Be Clear vs. Be Awake

Definitions:

Know -able to access what you learned about something

Be Clear -looking in the present moment at the integrated details of what you "know"

Be Awake -So clear on your purpose, what is best for you and why, that you naturally feel like doing what is best for you.

Comparisons:

Having vs. Using vs. Capitalizing / Using for your advantage

Truth vs. Honesty vs. Validity

Example 1:

One night Sasha goes out to dinner with a good friend. Her friend talks to her about diet and health, and Sasha listens closely. Sasha wants to lose weight. The more they talk, the more Sasha gets clear that she does not want to eat chocolate anymore. In this moment of clarity, she is so clear about all the ways it is not good for her, that she passes up the chocolate truffle and chocolate cake on the dessert plate in front of her without a second thought. In this moment she is awake.

Weeks pass by and Sasha is no longer 'awake' when she sees dessert trays. Sasha knows eating chocolate is not what she wants to be doing, but she avoids being clear about it in the moment so she doesn't feel too guilty when she eats it.

Example 2:

Natasha has just begun the process of setting up her wealth warrior system. She has been doing daily integration with her ally, Jeff, now for about a week. Jeff is experienced with the Wealth Warrior System and asks her at the beginning of every daily integration session, "Why do you want to build a Wealth Warrior System?"

Natasha begins to get frustrated. "You know why and I know why. You ask me this question every day. Let's just get on with it."

Jeff smiles to himself and asks her, "Do you know why I ask you that question?"

"Why?" she replies, rolling her eyes.

"One reason I have you verbally integrate 'why,' so that you become so clear in this moment about your purpose and values that you naturally respond to me with respect and appreciation when I challenge you."

Natasha is quiet for a second. "I'm sorry," she says, "but it just seems like we're covering the same ground with that question and I want to move forward. I remember now what you taught me about integrating to become clear and awake."

"Why do you want to move forward, and what difference does it make if you're awake or not?" asks Jeff, as if he doesn't know.

Natasha smiles and integrates the rest of Jeff's questions, because she is now clear that she must integrate if she wants to awaken and move forward. She had learned this before. She knew it, but she was not clear about it when they began their daily integration session. She's glad she has an ally, who can help keep her awake.

Key Point:

It is not enough to know, it is better to be clear, and it is best to be awake. How does this apply to you? Many ways. Here are two,

1. When an ally challenges you to get clear about something, integrate honestly about it. He's doing it for you. He is your ally.

2. Think twice when you don't want to integrate your formula at the beginning of your ritual. Sure you know what is on the formula. That's not the point. Verbally integrating it helps you get clear and wake up, so your ritual flows with little effort, discipline or self-control.

Wealth Warrior Advantage:

Wealth Warriors design systems to keep themselves awake, honoring their values and dreams.

Wealth Warrior Challenge:

What insights can you extract from the distinction: Know vs. Be Clear vs. Be Awake? Share your integrations below, and take action as a result of today's awakening..

SELECTED PARTICIPANT INTEGRATIONS & ACTIONS
INTEGRATIONS: With a formal system in place, I can get clear and become awake. Knowledge is something that comes far too easily. I strongly relate to the (1:22) poster above. If you survive public schooling with your curiosity intact, you will easily gain all kinds of knowledge. Your curiosity will drive this desire. But, like a packrat who stores far more than necessary, knowledge will get stacked up in a heap bin of uselessness. You only have so much time. Some of your time must be devoted to action. If you spend your time on the accumulation of knowledge and never take action... who do you become?

I want to walk the path of the wealthwarrior by building my system and learning how to ratio knowledge to action. That is one tool I can use to measure and awaken. Laziness can be come in many forms. What it has in common, however, is the failure to take action. It could be watching TV, reading books, sleeping, eating, watching movies, whatever. Laziness is defined by context. Michael Skye can say he watched TV last night. Just hearing that I might say he is lazy (out of context). Placed in the proper context, however, Michael Skye awoke at 4am, worked on his e-course, worked on his e-book, ate a healthy breakfast, did daily integration for 2 hours with his ally, did 8 hours of field work, upgraded his system, returned all phone calls, completed paperwork,.... and, watching TV last night was in his formula to do.

Action-to-knowledge ratio is something to work on. I see it clearly as I write this and speak it. I know when I am in "passive" knowledge acquisition state. I also know when I am in active "alpha" or "type-A" state and getting IT done. Therefore I am able to track the ratio of action-to-knowledge and determine through upgrades to my system what works best.

ACTIONS: Wrote down in my planner to integrate action-knowledge ratio into my system to build more clarity... to stay awake. Thanks, Michael, for getting this e-course up and running again. Web software can be tricky ;D

INTEGRATIONS: Having vs. Using vs. Capitalizing / Using for your advantage

To have: I thought that the name of the game was to possess. I believed that my happiness was in the acquisitions of things; money, women, cars, toys, etc. I have spent my whole life trying to possess “things”, I was willing to do almost anything in order to get the “thing” because I knew that once I had that “thing” I would be happy. Just like knowledge, having is a passive state of being. It is a false reality. It is a static concept in a dynamic universe.
Using: now this is where I begin to have problems because using requires action and action is work. I have found that I suffer from dishonesty and laziness and one of the most dishonest narrations that I tell myself is “having is enough”. Then if I can get others to look up to me for my so called possessions I have the proof that having is enough and why should I use it if I don’t have to. I would rather kick back and enjoy my possessions. The truth is that having is never enough because I always want more, or what I have isn’t good enough, or I have to have the new it, on and on.
When I use what I have (exert the effort) I come to a new level of understanding of the thing that I am using and it begins to serve me. The old saying “what I put into it is what I get out of it” applies here (everywhere). The more I use something, the more I am able to use it and the more benefits it offers me. My problem is that I am lazy and I usually resort to the “minimum effort required” mentality and fall back asleep. Often times I am so lazy that I won’t exert enough effort to get any results and will give up and resign myself to “at least I have it” mentality and resort to bragging and boasting about my possession(s) because that is about the only benefit that I will ever derive from it. I have found that it is at this point that I often begin to lie, manipulate, cheat and rationalize in order to cover up the fact that what I possess is not working for me. I begin to build large piles of things (real and imagined) in order to compete/compare with others piles in an attempt to cover up my growing sense of laziness (dishonor and poverty). Carried to extreme I can see where I would arrive at a point where I would hate everyone and everything that was truly of some value (wealth and honor).
Then there is the capitalizing/using for my advantage: which I do not know much about because as I keep saying I have been very lazy. But I can say that I am attempting to capitalize on these lessons and utilize them to my greatest advantage. I have become clear that a better word for me is to exploit because through integration I have become aware of the fact that I often feel that it is a bad thing to use something to my benefit. So I am now aware that the greatest good that I can extract from any given situation is through exploiting it to my maximum benefit (sounds scary). What I mean is that I remove/ignore all obstacles (self limiting narrations) and exert all out maximum effort. Capitalizing, exploiting, getting busy, massive action. The way of the Wealth Warrior!

ACTIONS: I have integrated the second half of this lesson even though I must admit that I allowed the technical difficulty to be an excuse to not honor my commitment to integrate this lesson last night. I have read the Wealth Warrior World and 12 Wealth Warrior Orientations and mentally integrated them to my life today. I have also read lesson #3. I have posted this integration even though it feel like it sucks.

INTEGRATIONS: Know vs. Be Clear vs. Be Awake.
Know is when I have knowledge about something, or have the ability to remember something from prior learning. Knowing something doesn't necessarily mean I have integrated the knowing into action in my life. I know what I want to do, need to do but may not be doing it. I could even be talking about all I know and believe in and not living any of it. I could rationalize all kinds of reasons why I'm not or I am doing a certain thing because I think I know the truth or the answers. Knowing for me can actually keep me from seeing where I'm being dishonest, not seeing things clearly.
Maybe I'm not doing this action because I'm not being honest(clear) with myself with the value of what I know. I haven't integrated in a very honest way that would make a difference, make it very clear to me the value it will add to my life or others, or how committed I am with integrating new ideas into my life that will bring more power to me and others. Being clear takes energy, time to be honest with self and others, taking time for me to journal, see things, ideas, opportunities more clearly.
Awake is when I'm in the flow of my power, there is no question or doubt I'm living my purpose with integrity, I feel the honor of doing what I value most. It doesn't take self discipline when I'm awake, there is no question what I will do to express my power, my integrity, what it means to be honoring my life purpose, its natural to be awake.

ACTIONS: I wrote down in my daytimer to do class #3 tomorrow morning. I got back into integrity by writing down in my daytimer my intentions for tomorrow. I wrote down to take twenty minutes to meditate and write in my journal. Be an ally to Michael to get up to bed on time and integrate our intentions about tomorrow.

INTEGRATIONS: I know I am committed to taking this course, yet often I am not clear about my commitment from one day to the next. And even when I am clear about my commitment, I am not usually awake, because I have been procrastinating taking the classes. If I was awake, I would feel like taking the classes and come take them.
ACTIONS: Signed up for the email auto-reminder for this course on the index page.

INTEGRATIONS: My experience with knowing is that you can know something but it may or may not be TRUE. I always "knew" that paying income tax was something you "had to do" because everyone said so. After reading and researching the laws, I found that what I "knew" before wasn't true. I was absolutely STUNNED to find out that there is NO LAW that makes me liable for income taxes. Because of the distinction between what I "knew" as heresay, and what I now "know" as FACT there is a bridge that I had to cross after which there was no going back. That knowledge allowed for me to be CLEAR on what was best for me and the only actions I could take because of that knowledge. Being AWAKE all the time about your present "knowledge" and what you are "clear" on takes vigilance and effort that most people are not willing to put forth in their lives. If we as a group support each other and caringly ask each other tough questions when we see or sense their importance to other members and to ourselves, then we will all progress through this program more rapidly and effectively.

ACTIONS: I have divided my 2 hours of course time into 4 segments in order to be as effective as I can in ach
i
eving success in myself and others by staying on the path to be a Warrior. Section 1; Reading Lessons. Section 2:Reading responses. Section 3: Formulating and writing my integrations and possible questions for others to respond to about my experiences or theirs. Section 4: Formulating new Actions based on the lessons, responses of others, and my own integrations.

INTEGRATIONS: This is the lynch pin.

I have a tremendous amount of knowledge about dieting, working out, marketing a financial services practice, and personal financial planning. Am I applying this knowledge to my workouts, my diet, my practice, and my personal finances.

NO!

Just having the knowledge is not enough. We must be clear about why the application of this knowledge is important. Then we must be awake, so that when we need to make smart decisions concerning the best behaviors to follow, we make the decisions that will propel us to make the best decision to help us become the Warrior we have envisioned.

Clarity gives us the reason to do what we need to do.

Being awake allows us to respond properly in the face of challenges.

ACTIONS: I have been trying to post my actions from before, so here goes. I have eaten clean the past few days. Until I fell ill here with what I thought was the flu. Turns out, I've contracted a mild case of West Nile Virus. I've not been eating as well, as a matter of fact, I've not really been eating at all. Anyway, I am using this time to become more clear and awake about what I wish to accomplish.

INTEGRATIONS: It is so easy to "know" something is the best course of action for oneself. It is a little bit more difficult to "be clear" about that something. To "be awake" about that something is the point that everyone would like to be at. Most people see & experience glimpses of being awake, but they do not integrate it into their lives. This is definitely a process that I am going to start to integrate into my life. This is so straight forward and applicable to almost anything that a person would like to accomplish in their lives. Know what they would like to accomplish, be clear about the steps to take, be awake when they start to accomplish their goals and stay awake when they start to become mentally or physically lazy.
ACTIONS: I am practicing/training for a Kung-Fu tournament this weekend. I am scheduling practice every night & every morning this week and am also scheduling studying time to work on becoming a wealth warrior.

INTEGRATIONS: Know vs. Be Clear vs. Be Awake...
The realization of this concept shows me why being on "autopilot" happens as much as it does. At moments I am awake and honoring my goals with the right intentions but soon after when my attention is off my goals I drop the effort to achieve the goal. It is like I am treating each moment with a different focus and only honoring a goal when it is comfortable of when it seems like the thing to do...

I know what I want to do. When I integrate the "why" of doing it is brought to the foreground of my attention and I am experiencing that. If I do not continue to stay clear on the "why" I allow it to drift away with little priority. It seems like it is all about making and keeping certain things a priority which I seem to concentrate on or let drift away unconsciously as something else grabs my attention. Being clear on the "Why" grounds me into it and keeps me awake in the moment experiencing the thing.

ACTIONS: I will continue to notice what I am involved with and notice how I stay focused and awake or why my focus drifts away. On a more solid action, I am finally setting up a home gym in my basement as I planned 6 months ago. Last night I cleared the space and the equipment will arrive today. I will begin my weight training sessions on Wednesday morning as I have added to my PDA daytimer.

INTEGRATIONS: I have perceived the distinction between know vs be clear vs be awake. The accumulation of knowledge is much like a vertical construction - it may look nice but it is not necessarily stable - a horizontal construction is necessary for overall success of the structure. It is like the difference between dreamer and doer
I have also thought of being clear vs being awake as like deciding who's going to captain your ship, pointing the rudder, and then actually going there.

Well those are nice metaphors but it will be interesting to see how this plays out over the course of the next few weeks a I take action.

Possibly the next step is to team up with someone else in the group who can act as your ally? I would be willing to do this.

ACTIONS: I am teaming up with an ally at one of my current "vocations" so we can keep each other motivated. I will know what it means to be clear and awake, he may not, but I can demonstrate to him what I mean by example. I am going to identify fu
rther sources of clutter in my current environment and work to get clear about them - ie. bills and health insurance, job leads, computer desktop problems, "flags" (that would require some explanation - well ok, flags are anything I write on a post-it and stick somewhere with the purpose of exploring later - no time like the present!) I have extended a general invitation to a WWA member to be their ally. Let's do it! I am re-stating the original purpose for joining the coaching program: to obtain complete confidence in my ability to work for myself. To develop effective professional systems that will allow me to do this
